Friendsgiving turkey, smoked 2 turkeys for PD day. 11/4

Friendship guides went out, brainstorming ideas of how to include parents who want to be included but English is not first language.

New Business – Received email from Depp PTO about participating in a district wide food drive. Everyone thinks this is a good idea to participate in. Have a volunteer who is ready to put a flyer together, each grade focuses on a specific item to be donated. District might have big boxes we can use, and they can be placed in front hallways. Will run Monday 17th through Dec. 12th.

Mother’s Room – add curtain, chair, and supplies to make room more comfortable for breastfeeding teachers at school. $250
Gym Shoes for Mr. Perry, extra gym shoes for a child to borrow if they come in with unapproved shoes during PE. $200.56
Safety Patrol – 2 pizza parties for safety patrol members one in first semester one in second semester - $250
  • Grant Proposal Discussion and Vote
    • Pellet grill to support SPED students ($459)
      • Mr. Byers -Biweekly cookouts, share food with staff and star students in each class, this cooking is enrichment for the SPED students. Grill will also be accessible by PTO. Every Friday the special ed team with their students -20-30 kiddos prepare food for themselves and the staff. Teaches life skills, currently have an air fryer and hot plate.

    • Large-scale laser printer to support all classrooms ($11,000)
      • Poster Maker Variquest Perfecta 2400 STP, Teachers could use to create posters, would work well with the new MyView curriculum, a survey was sent out and 80% of teachers said they would use it. 8 Dublin buildings currently have this poster maker, PTO paid for most, if not all of those. Rep will come and train school, life span is 10-12 years. If approved, we could have the product onsite and trained in less than 2 weeks. Ideas from Rep - Can be used for classroom support, PTO events, promotional products for profit ex. Classroom teacher taking group pics of kiddos at beginning and end of year and selling to parents. Use one supply of ink per year, will use multiple rolls of paper per year, 35 prints per roll of paper.

  • Friendship Guide Recap – Katie
    • Todd, Ashley, Katie working diligently to get this out to classrooms soon, probably next week 😊One guide per family, sent home with oldest kid.
  • Mums Sale Recap - Ashley/Ariel
    • Met the goal, money is in the account, still have to purchase gift cards for top sellers and 5th grade won the pizza lunch, PJ day is this Thursday for kiddos that sold at least 1 mum, hoping to negotiate a larger percentage of sales in future, also looking for high school volunteers to help in unloading of plants in future, 128 kids sold at least one mum.
  • Monster Mash – Maureen
    • 10 forms turned in so far, last year 80 in presales. Website is up, just need to send out link for online signup, door sale is ready on the square app. Key Club reached out and are excited to come back and help. Expanding crafts because the key club had so many helpers.
  • Teacher Appreciation - Amanda White
    • Meals for PTO conferences, City BBQ
  • Family Game Night – In need of a lead, ideally would like someone to step up before the Holiday break. Maureen will co-lead event if someone else can volunteer.
  • Spiritwear - Craig Walter
    • Changing vendors hopefully – Powell Prints, they utilize an online platform to streamline ordering, they are using new logos to develop 3 proofs for us, want to get the sale going in late Oct/ early Nov.

Call Meeting to Order 7:03 – Katie Ayers
                  Welcome, Introductions

Principal’s Report – Mrs. Barley
                  Great start to the school year!
All-day K is a success – Kids are tired, but inside the school is much calmer without mid-day dismissal and arrival.
Implementation of new ELA Resource (myView) is going well. K-5 program, keeping 95 Phonics for phonics portion.             
                  PAX Good Behavior Game continues to support student well-being and PEACE,                                PRODUCTIVITY, HEALTH, and HAPPINESS building wide.
President’s Report
Todd and Katie A. attended the district wide PTO meeting. Redistricting for the High Schools – proposed map will be released on Sept. 29th, and a public input session will be Sept. 29 at 6pm at Coffman and 7:30 at Jerome. Final maps will be public Nov. 10th at 6pm.
District communications team talked about how to use S’mores for emails and send out communications.
Back to school social was a great success with a huge turnout, and 15 – 20 kindergarteners showed up for kindergarten playdate!

Expenses – Playground supplies, soccer nets. Back to school social supplies (snow cones), staff appreciation dinner before school started, Mum sale is an expense at the moment – purchased labels for booklets, paper, ordered initial round of prizes

Martha says it is all good to use space.

Call Meeting to Order

Katie Ayers welcomed everyone and started meeting at 7:03.

  • Principals Report – Mrs. Barley Principal's Update
    PAX Good Behavior Game
    Harmonicas! Evidence based to be shown to rise above the noise and grab peoples attention. 
    • Dr. Shatkin, M.D. (October 2024 Dublin Community Speaker and author of Born to Be Wild) stated PAX Good Behavior Game is the single most effective strategy to reduce mental health and behavioral risks for youth, adolescents and young adults
    • Significant % paid for by Alcohol Drug Addition and Mental Health (ADAMH) of Ohio
    • ALL staff attended training this summer
    • Significant gain in instructional time (1 - 2 hours/day)
    • ALL students (and staff)  benefit with significant decrease in future high-risk behaviors
    • Evidence-based…55+ years of longitudinal data proving its effectiveness
    • PAX views behavior as a skillset - both for children to acquire and for adults to teach
    • PAX = Peace * Productivity * Health * Happiness … in our learning spaces
    • PAX = Peace (Latin)
  • Cell Phones
    State Law – cell phones are to be powered down and secured in backpacks curing the school day “Bell to Bell”
  • Staff will model new DCS Board Policy
    “Wearables” are not included. However, please put your students’ devices in ‘school mode’
    Students should not contact caregivers during the school day without knowledge of staff 
  • Anonymous Donor
    An OSE Family would like to cover the cost of school supplies; Words I Write; and the Kindergarten Journals for families in need. 
-Historically, much of the distribution occurs after school starts and office staff can keep a tally
-Back-to-School social: If a parent hesitates about the cost, give them Words I Write and/or the Kindergarten Journal with a book mark and say, “Don’t worry about payment this evening. The bookmark explains next steps.”.
    Bookmark: 
This book is a gift from an anonymous donor who wishes your child much success in the 2025-2026 school year. There is no need for you to submit payment.  (Translations in Arabic and Spanish)

Friendship guide will be printed this year for all, Friendship Guide drawing contest will be sent home at beginning of year. One Form will be sent home at beginning of year and is also on PTO website.

        Currently looking for a new supplier.
School Supplies – Katie
Delivered to school today, Katie Ayers will go to the school to help distribute the boxes to the correct classrooms this week.
Mums Sale – Ashley/Ariel
    Sign up sheets, lollipops for the kiddos to get them excited to sell, drawings 
for kids who are selling twice a week during th/e sale period

Adjustment to Grant Deadlines, Katie Ayers proposes to change bylaws for Unbudgeted Items – regarding the PTO grant request form, current bylaw is the a grant application is due 3 weeks prior to board meeting, would like to update the grant request will be considered on a quarterly basis 9/30 12/30 and 3/30 would be new deadlines. This allows the board to have a better look holistically at grant requests and be able to give more consideration each request. Grants under $250 are still able to be approved by the PTO executive board without
