Volunteer with Us

There are many opportunities to offer your time and talents for our school and its students.

Volunteer with Us

Why Should You Volunteer?

Picture
Dear Parents/Grandparents/Guardians/StepParents,
We invite you to join us in strengthening our community and enriching our schools by volunteering your time and talents. Your involvement not only supports our children’s education but also fosters a sense of unity and collaboration among families. By volunteering, you demonstrate a service heart, setting a powerful example for our children about the importance of giving back. Together, we can create a vibrant, supportive environment where every child can thrive. Let’s work hand in hand to make a lasting impact on our school community!

How to get involved:

It takes a village, and everyone can participate! Here are just some of the ways you can take an active role in enhancing your  students' elementary experience by participating in PTO:

Get Started
The best way for us to get acquainted is to fill out the ONE FORM or contact us directly at [email protected].

Lend your Voice: Attend PTO Meetings
Your input matters! PTO meetings provide a platform to voice your opinions, ask questions, and contribute to decision-making. Your insights can shape our school's direction. All parents, guardians and teachers of an Olde Sawmill Elementary student are automatically PTO members with full voting privileges at meetings.

PTO meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Upcoming meeting dates and minutes from past meetings can be found here.

Volunteer Your Time: Join an Event Committee
We support students, families, and staff in a variety of ways throughout the year. Each of these events is planned and organized by their volunteer-driven committees, then brought to life by our many dedicated parents, guardians and school staff who donate their time, energy, food, supplies, and enthusiasm.

The BEST way that you can volunteer is by participating in one of our many committees. Unfortunately, the reality is that if we don't have anyone to help plan an event, we are at risk of not being able to hold that event for our students, staff, and families. We are especially in need of committee volunteers for the following 2025-2026 events:
  • Family Game Night (Feb-March 2026)
  • Memorial Bricks (Spring 2026)
  • School Supplies (Spring and August 2026)

Once an event is planned, committees send out sign-ups with specific donation and volunteer needs, so keep an eye to your email and our facebook page for additional opportunities to participate throughout the year!

Financially Support PTO Priorities
Everything we do for students, their families, and OSE teachers, staff, and admin is funded by PTO fundraisers and donation drives held throughout the school year. In addition to our social events and staff appreciation, PTO underwrites Principal and Teacher Classroom funds, and disperses grants for academic enrichment opportunities, including visiting artists/authors, building beautification projects, playground equipment and field trips (just to name a few).  From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your financial support, it means so much to our OSE family.

Like our social and staff appreciation events, our fundraisers are volunteer-driven through committees. Consider participating in one of the following:

2025-2026 Fundraising Committees:
  • Fall Mums Sale
  • Winter Glow Fun
  • Spring Flower Sale

Join our Strategic Team: Serve on Our Board
Serving on the PTO Executive board is a wonderful way to impact the direction of PTO and contribute to the decision making at Olde Sawmill Elementary. These board positions are essential to the success of Olde Sawmill's PTO and the continued existence of the vibrant social events, strong staff support, and diverse academic enrichment opportunities that depend on us. Please strongly consider serving in a leadership position by talking to any of our current Board members.

The PTO Executive Board consists of the following positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary. Term length is one year starting July 1 to June 30, renewable annually.  Board Position Nominees for the following year are announced at the April PTO meeting, and voted on at the May PTO meeting. You can find full role descriptions here.

Thank you again to ALL of the parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff that continue to go above and beyond in support of our students and OSE family. On behalf of the PTO Board, we thank you.
Our Bylaws are reviewed at least once every 4 years.  Last approved August 2025
